LEEWARD AVE: Where I learned how to surf  in 1969.

When I was 16 there were maybe a Dozen of us on Long Beach Island who lived there all year round and surfed. Hudson Ave. soon became my favorite spot but I also liked Iroquois Ave. and there used to be a small point break down in Holgate that was killer.

No leashes, Cold Water, Crappy wetsuits, and for some reason I LOVED IT!!

 I got really good at Surfing really fast too!
